Queen's Birthday Weekend: Draining, Devanning, Drooping

Saturday, 1st of June 2013

The work begins slowly.

The Queen's birthday celebrations gave us a three day weekend and we cruisily got off to a start.

Draining
We had somehow ended up in a low patch of the boat yard and not wanting to work in a giant puddle all winter, we set about digging ditches to drain our area and rake the gravel in an attempt to dry our area out.

Devanning
On the sunday we set about unloading all the gear we had accumulated in the boat.
Much more thought will go into what goes back in.

Nic's Dad also turned up with his toy to see our toy.

Drooping
When we chocked the boat up originally, it was nose down, and so a lot of water had filled the cockpit and interior.  With Mark's help we set about jacking up the bow and re-chocking it so that the water would drain out of the cockpit and could be pumped out of the bilge.  Nothing was really drooping, but I can't think of a better word starting with d to describe levelling the boat.
(Edit: Dunnaging may have been a better word for what we were doing, certainly nothing was drooping.).
